Florida's homeowners would no longer have to bail
out state-backed Citizens Property Insurance Corp.
should the company have losses from future storms
under two bills introduced into the Florida Legislature.
The bills would use sales tax money generated by
hurricane-related sales to subsidize the beleaguered
insurer of last resort.
